Detenice.

There is a place in the Czech Republic named Bohemian Paradise. Besides the breathtaking nature, this protected landscape area can boast a number of old medieval chateaus. One of those chateaus is called Detenice. It was built in 1619 by Ji?í K?inecký. Legend has it that after falling into disgrace he buried all of his wealth somewhere in the territory of the chateau. They are still looking for the treasure...

Then the chateau would change owners way too often. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was even lost in a commodity exchange deal. In 1948, the government organized a gardening school in the chateau, therefore sending down the drain the priceless heritage this historical monument presented. Following The Velvet revolution, the chateau was bought over by the Ondrá?eks who started the reconstruction. Currently, guided tours and weddings take place in the chateau with guests attending the ceremony in period outfits.

There is a brewery right near the chateau along with a medieval tavern. It serves freshly brewed beer and dishes of Czech cuisine cooked on fire. Most of the dishes are supposed to be eaten with hands. The waiters look uncivilized, swear a lot and wear rags, but they are quick and cheerful when serving the clients.

Starting from 19-00 and up until 22-00 there are costumed performances taking place during the guests' meal. There is saber fighting for a chest filled with gold doubloons, fire show, and belly dance on the tables accompanied by the cracking of huge logs in the fireplace. A beggar-woman sitting patiently at the entrance, as well as candles on the tables - all that conveys the atmosphere of a truly medieval tavern and leaves an unforgettable impression.
